I wanted to give encouragement and speak the unspeakable. Who are you and what are you all about?
My name is Lauren Matthies. I am an Air Force wife and a mother to two boys (four, if you include our bunny and dog). Currently I am a stay at home mom, but, in the past I owned my own yoga studio. One day I will get back to teaching. It is a passion of mine. In general, helping people is a passion of mine. I got my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy before having a career change to yoga instruction. Tell me about your book. What was the inspiration behind it? Writing has always been something I love, and my favorite way to communicate. After having my first born, I really struggled. Motherhood changed me in ways that I never anticipated. It challenged me in ways that I never imagined. I wanted to let other mothers know that they weren't alone. That the ups and downs, the joys and the hardships, and the feelings that no one talks about are universal. I wanted to give encouragement and speak the unspeakable. Why is this work important to you? Because motherhood is hard. I want to normalize it. I want to build a community and help mothers find the courage they need to keep moving forward even when it feels impossible. I think that so often, especially with social media, we look at the lives of others, compare ourselves, and find ourselves lacking. I want others to find confidence in themselves, to trust themselves, and to come away feeling more hopeful, empowered, and content. How can we find out more? You can visit my website (www.boonandboys.com) or my Instagram account (@boonandboys) to get to know more about me. My book, Meditations from Motherhood: Moments of Meditation for the Modern Mom, is available on Amazon and I would truly appreciate you checking it out and letting me know your thoughts. Thank you!
